A warm welcome to Florian Haller, who has been supporting us in the Innovation Team since 1st April! And we are delighted to briefly introduce Florian to you here with the help of the following profile:
Where are you from?
I was born in the south of Burgenland and spent my childhood in the Marchfeld. Since then, I have travelled widely in the course of my education and other activities. I see myself not only as an Austrian, but also as an enthusiastic European.
Why did you apply for a job with us?
I applied to the Agro Innovation Lab because I am very interested in actively shaping agriculture. Back in my schooldays, I developed a field robot and was able to learn about the incredible potential of new, digital solutions. The development of practical innovations that create added value for farmers is particularly close to my heart. Only by implementing these can European farmers – in times of growing challenges – succeed in remaining competitive.
What do you find interesting about us?
I find the interaction between young, agile startups and experienced, established players such as RWA, Lagerhaus and their subsidiaries particularly interesting. These collaborations facilitate sustainable change in the agricultural industry. I was personally convinced by the Agro Innovation Lab due to its young, dynamic team and the broad range of its activities.
Which position will you fill?
I will fill the position of Innovation Manager and, together with my colleague Lena, observe and track trends and developments in the AgTech sector. As a forward thinker, I am always on the lookout for breakthrough innovations for tomorrow’s agriculture. And I am especially looking forward to upcoming Acceleration Programs and Innovation Challenges.
What have you done previously?
In addition to my broad agricultural and agricultural technology education, I bring practical experience in a variety of fields. Having studied at the Francisco Josephinum in Wieselburg as well as in Vienna and Weihenstephan (D), I was subsequently able to spend time in Denmark, Canada and New Zealand getting to know agricultural production systems in different parts of the world. Following a period in the field of primary agricultural production, I have most recently been in Germany, gaining some fascinating insights into the software development of farm management systems.
How would you describe yourself in five words?
Solution-oriented, persevering, sociable, helpful and down-to-earth
How do spend your leisure time?
Going out with friends is definitely high on my list of priorities. I like to be surrounded by nature and in winter I am an enthusiastic skier. I also enjoy traveling and experiencing other cultures.
I’m already looking forward to working together with the team and am full of drive, ready to help launch new innovations for tomorrow’s agriculture.
