Interested startups, spin-offs and other innovators have until March 31st 2022 to apply for the Bio Innovation Challenge.

The Agro Innovation Lab is hosting the 2022 Bio Innovation Challenge together with biohelp and the RWA Crop Protection Department. Throughout the year, large-scale scouting will review the market and promising products will be tested. The (interim) results of the current Challenge will then be presented at a joint event in November 2022.

We’ve already received many applications. Particularly exciting for the participants – in addition to the contact with the organisers RWA and biohelp – is the list of cooperation partners who are also on board. The list of supporters of the Bio Innovation Challenge includes:

  • bio austria: bio austria is the association of Austrian organic farmers and, thus, represents organic agriculture in the country. In addition to technical organic expertise, bio austria also provides specialist advice regarding application and approval processes.
  • AWS Austria Wirtschaftsservice: AWS is a federal development bank that stands for the strong support of innovation and of companies and their founders. Young companies in particular are actively supported by AWS.
  • FFG: The FFG is the national funding agency for business-related research and development in Austria. With its expertise, the FFG supports research-based startups as they make a successful start in the world of entrepreneurship.
  • Agrana: An internationally-oriented Austrian industrial company, AGRANA refines agricultural raw materials into industrial products for the processing industry.

The partners mentioned above will be joined over time by others. In addition to this, a range of stakeholders from industry, science and the statutory authorities are constantly involved in the process to ensure that problems are addressed from all sides and new active ingredients and methods can be transferred from the research laboratories into practice.
